BORG Wiener Neustadt celebrated 150 years of a major concert.
SUCCESSFUL CONCERT: BORG celebrates its 150th anniversary with an inspiring program and notable guests.
The Bundesoberstufenrealgymnasium recently celebrated its 150th anniversary with an impressive concert in which students, teachers and special guests showed off their musical skills. The concert was held in front of 300 guests, including many parents and teachers, as well as city councilor Erika Buchinger and Werner Schwarz, director of BRG-Zehnergasse.
The program was hosted by Katharina Ostowicz and Andreas Maurer, two former BORG high school graduates, who provided a good atmosphere between skits and told jokes and little anecdotes from their school days.
It was the main program for students and special guests. The BORG orchestra, conducted by Güntmar Sterns, performed along with the choir, conducted by Karin Vogel. As a “storm” piece, the orchestra played “Skyfall” with the rock band creating a real lightning bolt moment. This was followed by the BORG Big Band, accompanied by the orchestra, with a few soloists, including Starmania nominee Sebastian Holzer.
Overall, the program offered an impressive variety of pieces, including works by Vivaldi, Beethoven, and Michael Bublè. The audience was fascinated not only by the music, but also by the speech of director Reinhard Pilz. In his speech, Pilz emphasized: “We want to stand in the same tradition as Otto Glückel!” Otto Gluckel was also a graduate of the BORG and, among other things, was Austria’s first Minister of Education. Beals added, “We help to be human – because education is the greatest good!”
BORG’s 150th anniversary was celebrated and finally ended with thunderous applause and leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
