The happiest country in the European Union will surprise some people: it’s Austria. Unlike before, this time it was not the Scandinavian country that won, but Grantler’s country. This is shown by the Eurostat poll, in which Austria obtained 7.9 out of 10 points.

Poland, Romania and Finland came in second place with 7.7 points each. Followed by Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Slovenia and the Czech Republic. Neighboring country Germany ranks second to last.
Austria is above average
Austria previously landed in first place in 2021, and the mountain country was able to rise to the top again in terms of satisfaction in 2023. This was not determined by material wealth, but by evaluating the level of education, medical care, protection, and social security. This was used to record “trends in the subjective well-being of European citizens,” the study authors explained.
Overall, people in Europe are likely to be very happy, with the average rating being 7.1 out of 10 points.
