LAKE LOUISE Even if the second women’s sprint course at Lake Louise fell victim to unfavorable weather on Wednesday, one female ski racer is looking forward to her comeback. We’re talking about Nicole Delago from Val Gardena.
At the end of February 2020, South Tyrol competed in its last Super-G sprint race at La Thuile. A year ago today, I fell during a training trip in Sölden at the foot of the Ortler. In doing so, she tore her Achilles tendon. The 2020/21 season ended faster than she would have liked, and at the World Cup at home in Cortina d’Ampezzo, like the favorite Sofia Giugia, she also played the role of an unpleasant spectator.
Now the 25-year-old is healthy and fit again. She is part of the eight-person celestial blue delegation that wants to be successful in Canada. Speaking of success: Two years ago, Nicole Delago was happy to finish second in Super-G at Lake Louise. A similar outcome would of course further smooth out their return.
