Lena Beckmann (40) recently received the Austrian Nestroy Award for Best Actress. And now the German actress has been awarded for her role as Richard in “Richard the Kid & the King”, a co-production of the Salzburg Festival and Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, the 2021 Gertrude-Isoldt-Ring circuit, the city of Benchem announced on Wednesday.
Motivated by an almost chaotic energy, Lena Beckman gains the very dazzling Richard. In a breathtaking four hours, she has developed an insane psychological blueprint for a character capable of transcending any moral limits,” the jury explains its verdict. “Lena Beckmann does this by exhausting herself physically and emotionally with insane cruelty and unique strength – from the little boy outcast to the terribly power-obsessed king. Lena Beckmann plays this evolution with intelligence and intelligence second to none. Her unconditional dedication and playful freedom inspire us. In Lena Beckmann we admire the character A wonderful play of our time.”
The Gertrud-Eysoldt-Ring Prize has been awarded by the City of Bensheim and the German Academy of Dramatic Art since 1986. Previous winners have been Klaus-Maria Brandor, Corinna Harfush, Nina Hoss, Ulrich Mohe, Tobias Moretti, Sandra Holler and Sophie Royce.
