Bologna’s sigh of relief: After five matches without a win, German soccer star Marko Arnautovic hit Rossoblo with three points against Spezia Calcio.
In the past nine matches, FC Bologna suffered seven massive defeats. Four of them in the last five games. There was a sense of accomplishment against Spezia on Monday night: Bologna won 2-1 after trailing 1-0.
After 40 minutes, Arnautovic leveled with a left-footed shot, and the Austrian headed in five minutes before the end to make the score 2-1. Arnautovic now has eight goals this season, while Bologna is 13th in the table.
Arnautovic: “I can always live with that”
Arnautovic answered questions about his performance after the final whistle at DAZN: “I’m happy with three points, and that’s the most important thing in this situation.” “I’m working with the team, I can’t score without my teammates. We’ve had some problems recently, but now Salernitana is waiting and we can win again. There’s a lot of criticism at the moment, the journalists are doing their job – I’ve always been able to live with that.”
Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic praised Arnautovic. “Today Arnautovic only played against Arnautovic. In a way it reminds me a bit of Mancini in the sense that he likes passes more than goals, so during the week I made him repeat some moves where he hits the ball rather than passes the ball,” explains Mihajlovic.
And Mihajlovic continued: “Today he did it right away. He hit the crossbar once, twice into the goal. He sacrificed himself, in short, he did everything we asked of him. Now he’s fine and he has to continue like this.”
