POTSDAM / GRÜNHEIDE (dpa-AFX) – About eight months after the start of originally planned production at Tesla’s US electric vehicle manufacturing plant
According to information from the German news agency, a positive decision is expected for Tesla. As is customary in such actions, there are conditions. Tesla started building the first “Gigafactory” in Europe a little over two years ago and has built it on its own so far with about 20 early approvals. The plan is initially to produce up to 500,000 cars per year with about 12,000 employees. The battery factory is under construction. Environmentalists and residents see the water supply at risk. However, Tesla has long dismissed the concerns.
The Administrative Court in Frankfurt (Oder) will hear on Friday the lawsuit brought by environmental organizations Grüne Liga and Nabu against the water law permit from the State Environmental Office (LfU) for the so-called Eggersdorf watershed, which also affects the factory of the electric vehicle manufacturer in the United States. . The Strausberg-Erkner Water Society (WSE) is involved in the negotiations as an affected party. From the point of view of both associations, necessary tests are missing. (file number VG 5K 469/21)
If the Water Act permit is revoked by the Administrative Court, the WSE sees Tesla’s supply of up to 1.4 million cubic meters per year at risk and wants to terminate the supply contract with the car manufacturer. / vr/DP/nas
