League Two: FC Dornbirn celebrates away to Young Violets – Football

Vienna – Saturday, March 5, 2022, 4:24 pm

FC Dornbirn celebrates its first win under new coach Mehmet Akakunduz. In the 19th round of the Second Admiral League, Vorarlberg won the away match against Young Violettes 2-1.

The Ländle-Klub team got off to a perfect start. And in the fourth minute, Amir Abdejanovic, who was left alone criminally, advanced after a cross pass from Timo Friedrich. Then the hosts took the lead, but Dornbirn’s goalkeeper Maximilian Lang was able to distinguish himself several times.

Guests resort to counterattack and become dangerous only at certain points. However, in the 69th minute Mario Stifel scored the second goal for the “red shorts” after a beautiful combination with Patrick Mejic.

Then the Violet tried everything to get back into the match, but they continued to waste many big chances, for example Joseph Bruce failed a meter in front of goal in the 76th minute. Substitute Armand Smerka scored the goal only in the 84th minute – after a pass from Sterling Yatiki, around Noah Awasi The long-range shot into an untenable deflection. Dornbirn takes the narrow lead over time.

This is the sixth consecutive defeat for the Violet youths at home – they are tied on 16 points, ahead of FC Dornbirn in 13th.
