With a 4-1 win in the decisive seventh match against HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana, EC GRAND Immo VSV secured his ticket to the semi-finals.
EC GRAND Immo VSV also reached the semi-finals of the two-day ICE hockey tournament with a home win. As for “Adler”, it is the first participation in the semi-finals since the 2015/16 season. In the crucial home match against HK SZ Olimpija, they celebrated their 4-1 victory. John Hughes gave Villach a perfect start and in the fourth minute he hit the ball through the back of Ljubljana goalkeeper Zane As to take an early lead. A little later, Scott Kosmachuk (8th), who completed an excellent goal with Rick Schofield, lifted. The “Dragon” reduced the difference with two goals almost immediately after a counter-attack by Wade Murphy (10th). Villach then showed he was disciplined – and then succeeded in a third power game: Scofield’s record (39/PP1). A short struggle by the Slovenes in the last third made Tomi Karhonen (32 saves) his niece. Anton Carlson identified the last point with an empty netter.
