License denied: FK Austria Wien (Financial, Legal).
This is how the Austrian Bundesliga informed the decision on Wednesday to reject the “Violet” licensing of the German League and accept the second division.
Viennese residents will lodge a protest against this fifth Senate decision, the association announced in a broadcast.
It was confirmed that the association submitted all documents on time.
“With the entry of the investor, we have taken the first step towards the association’s economic stability, but many measures are still needed to reduce costs and increase revenue, which we have introduced as part of the licensing process,” Austria CEO Gerhard Krech explains.
“Given the complexity and uniqueness of investor entry, it is understandable that the Bundesliga is asking us more questions. We are confident that we can clarify all issues in a timely manner and hope to make a positive decision the second time around,” Krech says.
Points are deducted for Austria when the license is granted
If the licensing decision goes in Austria’s favour, four points for the 2022/23 season will be deducted “Violet” and a fine of 20,000 euros for the delay in submitting annual financial statements.
The protest can be submitted in writing until April 21, and a decision in the second instance will be made by Wednesday, April 27, 2022.
If the licensing decision is still negative, a complaint can be submitted to the Impartial Permanent Court of Arbitration within eight days of the decision of the invocation committee.
This will result in a final decision being made by the end of May 2022 at the latest.
