The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor Christian Tillmann and composer Anton Bruckner – this is a mix that music lovers can really look forward to. Since 2019, the elite orchestra has been recording all nine symphonies (including the so-called “zeroes”) with Thielemann in big cycle. Some shows had to take place without an audience due to the pandemic; But on other recordings, rejoicing had no limits.
The same goes for Brackner’s Sixth Symphony (A Major), which can be heard on weekends (repeat: today, Monday) as part of Philharmoniker’s subscription concerts.
fixed up and down
And there was an orchestra that included Bruckner’s artistic DNA. This work, which is somewhat unsurprising in Bruckner’s universe because it is so dramatic, is so naturally rarely heard, so subtle, and rich in melodic undertones. But Christian Tillmann tasted it all here, too. The marvelously laid out pauses by Bruckner, the occasional abrupt transitions, the constant building up of the melodies and their breakdown – with the usual excellent orchestras and this conductor, leave no artistic desire unfulfilled.
Richard Strauss Previously: Soprano Camilla Nylund sang “Malven” in the orchestral version of Wolfgang Rihm and “Four Last Songs”. The vowel is good, but it’s a little too good, it can work on the clarity of the word.
