Filip Misolic (ATP 301) is taking another important step in his young career: the 20-year-old is in the final of the ATP Challenger Championship in Zagreb. Prior to that, he made his semi-final debut at the Challenger event.
Styrian, who started as a qualifier in the €45,730 claycourt tournament, defeated sixth-placed Australian Jason Kobler (ATP 174) 7:5, 3:6 and 6:3. In the final he meets Croatian Mili Pulicak (wild card), who Won 6:4, 6:1 against Spaniard Carlos Jimeno Valero.
After a draw after two sets, Misolic entered the winning path with two quick breaks in the third set (to 2:1 and 4:1), but still had to accept a re-break to 3:5. After more than 2:40 hours, he uses The 20-year-old scored first match point.
He has 50 ATP points and €3,650 in his pocket. The Croatian-born Misulik made a huge leap forward in the world rankings and entered the top 250 in the world rankings for the first time. Winning the tournament will add another 80 points and push towards the 225th position.
