A huge deal is emerging in the world of music: the rights to the entire business of British rock band Pink Floyd could change by about half a billion dollars. According to information from the Financial Times, Warner Music and German music company BMG are interested in purchasing licenses for Pink Floyd.
Accordingly, the sale could reach more than $ 500 million – and may exceed the previous record amount of $ 550 million that Sony Music paid last year, according to American media, for the entire business of American singer Bruce Springsteen.
Selling music rights frequently
In recent years, music rights to the entire works of music stars have been repeatedly sold out. According to media reports, hundreds of millions of dollars were paid for music rights by David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Sting and Tina Turner.
Progressive rock band Pink Floyd, founded in 1965 and disbanded in 2015, is one of the most successful bands in music history with titles such as “Money”, “Wish You Were Here” and “Comfortably Numb”. According to bestsellingalbums.org, Pink Floyd has sold more than 250 million records worldwide.
