Re-Call Absolutely amazing show out of place Super Mario 64 With ray tracing? Well, the same person is now working on a new project that can develop an N64 emulator. Dario turned Modder Software Engineer has just revealed that “RT64” (the trace path behind the sm64rt project) has been turned into a plugin for the Nintendo 64 emulator.

It started life “a month ago” to improve the “computer port backend” and has evolved into a “general simulation solution” that can be applied to a much larger library of N64 games. It can add ray tracing lighting, object motion blur, widescreen and DLSS, and frame rate optimization – to over 60fps.

Of course, it’s still in its infancy, which means it still has a long way to go. It also remains “Mission Impossible” to make it compatible with everybody N64, address highlighting is a manual process. Over time, a whitelist of compatible games will be provided so users know what games do and don’t work with the plugin.

An “interesting side effect” of this project was “finding a way to execute hash commands sent from an N64 game without actually modifying the game at all” – meaning games without 60fps patches on the N64 now run at higher speeds, a frame that can That rates are higher without the need for unique fixes.
