Kansas City Bayer Group has won another lawsuit in the United States over the alleged risk of cancer caused by the herbicide glyphosate. A court in Kansas City, Missouri, on Thursday (local time) ruled in favor of Docs and ruled that the herbicide was not the cause of plaintiff Alan Sheldon’s illness. Bayer welcomed this, but at the same time expressed sympathy for Sheldon.

In 2018, Bayer faced major legal risks in its acquisition of US seed company Monsanto for $ 60 billion, producing the controversial herbicide roundup containing glyphosate. The agrochemical and pharmaceutical company has now succeeded in three consecutive glyphosate processes in the United States, but has previously lost three processes in a row. The Leverkusen group faces several similar U.S. lawsuits.

The decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to accept the case in which Bayer was convicted in 2019 is expected to be crucial to the further development of this large legal construction site. The people of Leverkusen believe that the Supreme Court will review and overturn the verdict – which will have a signal effect on many processes. But recently, it does not seem like, the US government has advised judges not to accept the case.

The company made an additional allocation of $ 4.5 billion last summer if the Supreme Court did not want to deal with the glyphosate case or ultimately decide against Bayer. The company plans to use the money to set up a plan to deal with potential new plaintiffs’ claims in the United States over the next 15 years. According to Bayer, roundabouts are safe when used as a driver.
