Costa Rica was the last national football team to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar at the end of the year. World No. 31. They rose to the occasion of their role as favorites on Tuesday night in the intercontinental play-off match with New Zealand, who finished just 101st in the standings, winning 1-0 (1-0). Joel Campbell became the winner of the match at Al Rayyan Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium in the third minute.

Los Ticos qualified for the World Cup for the third time in a row and for the sixth time in total. I also had due luck on your part on the way there. Chris Wood was dropped from the penalty area in the 38th minute, but referee Mohamed Abdullah Hassan did not award a penalty kick. One minute later, the Newcastle striker scored a goal that assumed the score was 1-1. But due to faulty play in the development of the movement, the target was rejected after studying television images. A very difficult decision.

In the second half, the video referee then confirmed New Zealand’s disqualification. Costa Barbarosos was forced to leave the field in the 67th minute after Francisco Calvo injured his Achilles tendon from the back. Despite the numerical inferiority, the outsider tried everything again, but was not rewarded for his efforts. Also because PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navas responded brilliantly to a shot from Clayton Lewis (76) and Wood was then unlucky in the end.
