St. Polten – Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 6:55 pm
SKN St. Pölten a successful start to the season. In the first round of the Second Admiral League, Lower Austria celebrated their 2-0 victory over FC Dornbirn.
Stefan Helm’s side got off to a great start: Favalli of Dornbirn played the ball straight at Kevin Monzialo’s feet in front of the penalty area. The French player is perfect for Jaden Montaur (second) and the Dutchman calmly executes in the right corner – 1: 0.
St. Polten takes over in a row, and Dornbirn can’t breathe so much pressure. In the 18th minute, Ulysses Lanez almost made it 2-0, but his shot veered off the post and the ball ran far. After the next corner, Christian Ramspner (19th place) found the next big opportunity, Dornbirn goalkeeper Justin Ospelt saved his header well.
Shortly before the break, Thomas Janschitz’s side scratched the surprise equalizer because SKN goalkeeper Franz Stoltz misjudged a high ball. The goal is empty, but Ramspner (38) scratched the ball out of the line in time. In injury time, Montaur scored the supposed goal 2-0, but was offside when the ball was passed.
After 2-0, SKN didn’t let anything burn
In the second half, the match develops at eye level, where chances of scoring goals are scarce at the moment.
After 70 minutes of playing, substitute Dean Barloff (70th position) finally made it all clear. Christoph Messerer plays a long ball to Jacob Seelow who beats players from Dornbirn and plays in the middle against Louis Hartwig. The German drains again for Barloff, who beats Ospelt at the right corner.
St. Polten then managed to score with confidence and can look forward to the first three pointers of a season when he is still young.
