On their first joint training session at the 2027 World Cup stadium in Montafon, the climbing park and Via Ferrata climbed straight. “I was very pleased that the team showed so much commitment and great team spirit in various activities,” confirmed Upper Austria, who also had several discussions to get to know the athletes better.
With Daniel Traxler and Sandro Seppenhofer, there were also two Vorarlberg players working on a comeback after injury. Traxler missed the entire 2021/22 Olympic season due to a herniated disc, ending last winter early after suffering a cruciate ligament tear at the end of December.
First snow training in August
“I’m fit again, and my back is fine too,” said Traxler, who is already looking to compare with his teammates on snowboarding sessions planned on European glaciers from the second half of August. “I’ll see where I stand there. My goal is, of course, to return to the World Cup after good preparations with a strong performance,” said the top Austrian, who really liked the track: “We can really unleash the liveliness in Forest Ruble park, and Veratas was very demanding.”
Siebenhofer still needs a little patience, and the World Cup on November 5 at Les Deux Alpes (FRA) is likely to start too early for the 25-year-old. “I am absolutely punctual on the way back, but I will not rush into anything. I certainly will not make a mistake in returning to racing soon after my cruciate ligament injury. Now the main thing is to be well prepared and to be fully fit for the season,” said Styria. .
Tristan Takats, the last winter World Cup climber, got through the summer without any problems. “The last few years I’ve had to suffer from minor illnesses while preparing – it was an injury at first, then again an illness. Thankfully, I’ve survived that this year. My goal for next season is clear: I want to get my first podium in the World Cup. For this it will be necessary to become more consistent in the beginning,” says Takats.
Gigler is ready for the next step
For the women, Junior World Champion Sonya Gigler participated in a tournament run by a World Cup team for the first time. In March, she placed sixth in her World Cup premiere on Reiteralm. “My first season in figure skating was really good. Now, as a next step, I would like to find my way into the World Cup. With Andrea (Limbacher, NB) and Catherine (Offner, NB) I have two very experienced teammates who can, thanks to their great experience, , giving me valuable advice, “In Montafon in particular lies the heart. “This is a long-term project that I will be working on constantly.”
