Former Starbucks cafes reopened in Russia under a new name

The former coffee shops of the American company Starbucks reopened in Russia under a new name. The new chain welcomed its first customers to its Moscow branches today under the slogan “Star Coffee”, which is also visually reminiscent of Starbucks.

Starbucks withdrew from Russia as a result of the Russian military attack on Ukraine. Pro-government rapper Timati and owner of a Russian restaurant took up the business.

The names are still on the cups

The company’s new logo is green and brown with white lettering, and the famous Starbucks mermaid has been replaced by a woman with a traditional Russian headdress. The menu contains the usual drinks, but not the Frappuccino, a Starbucks patented iced coffee. The new chain also wants to continue the Starbucks tradition of writing the customer’s name on the beverage mug when ordering.

The owners of Stars Coffee said that all the chain’s locations throughout Russia will open by the end of September. Most will remain cafes, and some will be converted into restaurants. According to the information, about 80 percent of the 2,000 former Starbucks employees decided to stay after the change of ownership.
