LASKler playful in the first half 1 interest
In the last match of the year, SpVgg Bayreuth, a third-division team in Germany, made a guest appearance at LASK. The Linz athletes were very excited in the first round and found many good opportunities.
In the ninth minute, the visitors’ penalty area became very dangerous for the first time: Marvin Putzmann headed in a half-high cross for Thomas Goeginger, who initially failed Bayreuth goalkeeper Zhachowski before Horvath’s subsequent shot ended in an opposition human wall. In the 19th minute, there was a buzz for the first time – but to no avail: Rene Renner extended a cross from Sascha Horvath with the back of his head in perfect fashion to Keito Nakamura, who only had to push at the second pole. But the referee team considered the Japanese offside and conceded the goal.
Zirngast after variable Michorl corner ball with aluminum stem
Two minutes later, the next hit, in the truest sense of the word: Peter Michorrell hit a corner kick at Gabriel Zirngast, who was lurking far outside the penalty area, and the young man attempted a watch-worthy direct shot – the crossbar. In the 27th minute, the second hope was for the youngsters who almost took the lead: midfielder Luca Wimover, who was making his first appearance in 11 matches, got the ball after a corner kick in the penalty area and fired it from close range into the goal. Goal – saved by goalkeeper Zhachowski with a great reaction on the line.
Also featured was Keito Nakamura, hitting the crossbar after a counter-attack (29th minute), before Thomas Goeginger flicked the goalkeeper past Gabriel Zirngast’s one-goal. Bayreuth could only get dangerously ahead of the Linz goal just before the break, and Dennis Lippert fired the only shot on goal of the first half in the 39th minute. His long-range shot, however, did not embarrass Alex Schlager.
An open exchange of blows in the second round
There were many changes in the first half on both sides, and Bayreuth has found his way into the game better since then, but without really becoming necessary. Alexander Schlager (52) parried a low shot from Marcel Goetze, and Lask responded in the form of Hussein Palic, who evaded his goalkeeper and forced Bayreuth substitute goalkeeper Petzold to make a first save (55).
After 7 minutes Bayern again: Jan George sent Martin Thomann on the left wing, but his shot was harmless. In the 76th minute, LASK had a double chance: first, goalkeeper Petzold was only able to narrowly parry a long-range shot from Flecker, and then corrected a slight fluctuation with a good save against Husein Palic.
Test player Jovan Lukic had another good chance at the end: he caught a cross from Florian Flicker in the second post, but put the ball wide of the goal with a cross shot (84).
Husein Balic found the last chance of the match in the last minute: he put himself in a promising shooting position in the penalty area, but in the end he missed the goal. LASK remains unbeaten in the test match in December (2S, 1U) and says goodbye to Christmas.
The next test run will be on 14th January 2023 against second tier club ADMIRAL SK Vorwarts Steyr (2pm, venue weather dependent).
Coach Didi Kohbauer on the match: “It was two very different halves. In the first half it was a really good performance apart from the goal we scored, in the second half there was a team that had rarely played together in this formation before. However, the boys did well there too and it was a successful finale for our group.” First preparatory.
