In the European Union corruption scandal, the Belgian judiciary will decide today whether the former Vice-President of the European Parliament, Eva Kaili, will remain in prison. Last week, the detention review was postponed at short notice at the request of the 44-year-old Greek. The Belgian judiciary is investigating suspicions of corruption, money laundering and outside influence in the vicinity of the European Union Parliament.
It is said that the Gulf emirate of Qatar tried to influence political decisions with gifts of money and goods. According to reports, Morocco has tried to do the same.
So Kylie and three other suspects were arrested on December 11th. Last week, the investigative judge ruled that two of them should continue to be held in prison. These are Cayley’s friend, who works as an assistant in the European Parliament, and the former Socialist in the European Parliament, Pier Antonio Panzieri. Another suspect was allowed out of prison with an ankle bracelet. According to media reports, Kylie has now made a partial confession.
