Rally: USA: Anti-abortion protesters demonstrate in Washington

Washington At yesterday’s rally, thousands of demonstrators celebrated the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn abortion rights in the US since 1973. At the same time, they demanded that abortion bans passed by many states should not be restricted. “The Right to Life Movement, Roe v. “Wade has achieved a great success, but our work (…) still has a long way to go,” US broadcaster CNN quoted one of the initiators as saying.

A White House spokesman said yesterday that the US administration under President Joe Biden has never tired of pointing out and acting against the “repeated attacks on women’s right to make their own health care decisions”. Biden sharply criticized the judge’s decision last summer and made it clear he would do everything he could to restore abortion rights across the country. The decision caused outrage and anger among many Americans; Thousands of people across the country took to the streets to protest against the decision.

“March for Life” has been held annually since 1974. The event marks the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade 50 years ago, it led to the legalization of abortion. With the June 24, 2022 ruling, abortion opponents have won an important victory. Now they want to focus more on the legislature.
