The second match in 2023, Bayern Munich did not win for the second time!
After a 1-1 draw with RB Leipzig at the start of the year, the Munich side had to settle for a 1-1 draw with 1.FC Köln in the 17th round of the Bundesliga at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern got cold feet after just four minutes: Julien Chaput extends a corner kick from ÖFB star Florian Keenz into second, as Elias Skhiri enters and shoots in fourth place.
The Munich team then face a committed defender from Cologne, but he can pose little danger – quite the opposite: after a counter-attack by the powerful Kainz, Shkiri has a fantastic chance to make it 2-0, which Yann Sommer destroys.
Goalie Schwäbe saves Cologne – but is then incapacitated
Bayern can only create danger around changing sides, but it fails several times due to the wonderful save of Cologne goalkeeper Marvin Schwepp (44 / Pavard, 48 / De Ligt, 54 / Koeman, 79 / Muller).
It takes an absolutely unstoppable shot from Joshua Kimmich to score a point for the Chiefs. In the 90th minute, he removed his instep from the second row, slapping the faux leather off the crossbar into the net.
Florian Kainz plays with the “billion goats” until the 58th minute, Dejan Ljubic plays in the first half. At Bayern, Marcel Sabitzer and Paul Wanner sat on the bench for 90 minutes.
Bayern Munich’s lead over chaser Leipzig was reduced to four points. Cologne currently ranks 10th with 21 points in the tight midfield.
