At the World Ice Hockey Championship in Finland, Latvia won the bronze medal on home soil. The Baltics defeated the USA 4:3 (2:2,0:0,1:1,1:0) in the minor final in Tampere, Finland on Sunday in front of thousands of Latvian fans. First World Cup medal. North Americans, on the other hand, finished fourth, the same as the previous year. Canada will then face Germany in their 28th World Cup final.
Roberts Bukarts gave the Latvians the lead (8′), Rocco Grimaldi immediately equalized (10′). Janice Jacks fired the outsider in front again seven minutes later.
