That Samsung is on the Galaxy S23 Ultra (here Available on Amazon) It doesn’t replace the newly introduced 200MP ISOCELL HP2 on the back, which shouldn’t surprise any fan, but the other three cameras have been practically out for years. Neither the 12MP wide-angle sensor nor the 10MP dual-lens for the 3x and 10x telephoto cameras, which have been recycled over and over since the Galaxy S21 Ultra with minimal changes, have not been renewed, say, this year.
And nothing will change in 2024 either, suggests a current screenshot (see below) by Chinese leaker Ice Universe, which quotes “Korean sources” without naming them. If we can still find the source, of course an update will follow. According to the leak, Samsung is not only sticking to a 200MP ISOCELL HP2 with 0.6um pixels in the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the ultra-wide angle sensor is the same 12MP IMX564 with 1.4μm and a 1/2.55-inch size.
The situation with the two telephoto cameras is similar: contrary to some leaks in recent months, not much has changed. Thus, the 3x vertical camera remains the same again – 1/3.52″ 10MP Sony IMX754 with 1.12um pixels. According to the leak, the 10x periscope zoom module changes to a slightly modified 10MP IMX754+. From the current perspective, neither the variable zoom optics nor the rumored 5x zoom seem to have become a reality, which caused a lot of discontent on social media last week. However, it is still important to remember that there is still no proof of the specifications mentioned in the leak – as is known, hope dies last.
