LR Dorner: “The Grasske Junior World Championship is a positive sign for Sportland Burgenland”

The FIS Grass Ski World Junior Championships will take place from August 2 to 6, 2023 in the Greater Bernstein, Rettenbach district

Turf skiing has been of particular interest in Rettenbach for decades, as Austria’s most modern training facilities are located there. The world skiing elite have been guests of the Bernstein region for many years. The highlight event so far was the World Championships in 2009. At the start of August 2023, the best young athletes in the world will be back in town to set top times in the Junior World Championships. In Rettenbach, local champions Emma Eberhardt (Slalom) and Tina Hetfleisch (Super G) also want to try to successfully defend their world championship titles. Today, Thursday, July 13, 2023, State Councilor for Sport Heinrich Dorner and Mayor Renate Habitler, together with the organizers and representatives of Sport Burgenland, presented the Junior World Championship program: “It is a very positive sign for Sportland Burgenland that with the FIS Junior World Championship in Graske we have brought another first-class sporting event to Burgenland,” says Heinrich Dorner happily.

The state of Burgenland with state sports council member Heinrich Dorner is proud of the Rettenbach community and the responsible officials, “This junior world championship attracts people, and the organizers can look forward to many visitors, also because of the great support programme,” said the county council. Dorner congratulated Emma Eberhardt and Tina Hetfleisch on the site for their great successes last season. “Skiing on the lawn in Rettenbach is a great sport, but also for the tenacity, the comfort and the humility it’s always an experience here,” said the regional councilor, who finally said.

ASKÖ Burgenland President Alfred Kollar is pleased that the Rettenbach ski club has successfully competed under the ASKÖ flag in international competitions for ten years: “The club is the best ski club in Austria, which promotes many talents and also top athletes in the ‘start brings’,” he says. “As a native of Rettenbach, I am very happy that the Junior World Championships will be held here again,” says Köller.
