Michigan Alleges Trump Supporters Engaged in Election Fraud – Politics

The Michigan Department of Justice is taking action against several supporters of former President Donald Trump for allegedly trying to influence the outcome of the 2020 election. The 16 men and women are accused of meeting secretly in the basement of the Republican Party headquarters in Michigan on December 14, 2020 — just weeks after the election — and signing documents posing as state voters. Ministry of Justice has now announced. The accused then sent the lists to the US Senate and the National Archives in Washington.

“That is a lie. They were not properly elected and appointed voters, and each of the defendants knew it,” Attorney General Dana Nessel said in a video message. They would have taken the planned action in the hope and belief that it would benefit their preferred candidate, Trump, not the electorate, Joe Biden. There are allegations of conspiracy to falsify election and documents. Those accused are well-known Republicans in Michigan — for example, former vice chairman of the party Meshaun Maddock.

In the United States, the president is elected indirectly. A total of 538 electors, representing people in all 50 states and the capital, Washington, D.C., voted after the 2020 election on December 14. The vote of the electors is usually a formality. Trump, a Republican incumbent, doubted the victory of Democrat Biden and refused to concede defeat.

The results of the 2020 election and efforts to prevent a power shift in Washington still preoccupy America. For months, an independent special investigator has been examining whether former President Trump should be prosecuted. Trump announced Tuesday that he expects to be indicted. The Special Counsel informed him that he was the target of an investigation into the January 6, 2021, violent attack on the US Capitol.
