Eminem stops Republican Ramaswamy from singing his song

American rapper Eminem has asked Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy to stop using his music on the campaign trail. The US copyright authority, BMI, said in a letter initially reported by the Daily Mail and verified by AFP that it had received a “formal request” from Eminem.

In it, he asks the 38-year-old politician not to use his chops anymore. Earlier this month, a video of Ramaswamy rapping Eminem’s play “Lose Yourself” at a carnival in Des Moines, Iowa, went viral online.

It was sung as “Da Vek”

Ramaswamy was already rapping under the stage name “Da Vek” while studying at Harvard University. As Trump’s most devoted defender, the young biotech entrepreneur has surprisingly reached No. 3 in the polls for Republican candidates.

During the last two US elections, musicians like Pharrell Williams, Rihanna, Aerosmith and Adele have complained that their songs were used without permission at former President Donald Trump’s campaign events. The Rolling Stones even threatened to sue if their famous song “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” continues to hit the charts.
