Ahoy! Pop music: An evening of indie pop at the Posthof

Fall is always ahoy! Pop time at Posthof Linz. In this indie pop evening with the four bands Rikas, Black Sea Dahu, Acht Bucket Hühnerherzen and David Caspar.

About 100 people came to the Posthof last Thursday and made the Great Hall look a bit empty. That couldn’t be the case – there really was something for everyone at this evening of indie pop.

David Caspar

Singer-songwriter David Kaspar kicked off the evening. He usually performs as a solo trio this evening. Last year, he released his first album entitled “Between the Crushers.” With his sad songs and clear, beautiful voice, he made his way into our hearts. We also commented on his name on Instagram, which we found very amusing: Piratenbraut477. So keep an eye on this lovely young musician, because we’ll definitely be hearing a lot more from him in the future.

Eight buckets of chicken hearts

Next on stage is one of our favorite bands with perhaps the funniest band name ever: nylon punk trio Acht Bucket Hühnerherzen from Berlin. Since they brought us a sold-out Qlash at KAPU last year, these songs have been popping up and down the playlists of some of our members. This evening they proved once again that they are capable of creating an amazing atmosphere. There was dancing and singing along. Some people also said that evening that it was only thanks to them that they found their way to Posthof that day. The band is very harmonious and likable. They sang songs like “Eisenhüttenstadt” and “Medium,” which some visitors knew by heart, and left a lively crowd behind after an hour. It is unfortunate that more guests did not find their way to the Posthof that evening to hear this band.

Black Sea Dahu

The third band that evening was the Swiss Black Sea Band Dahu. Since their debut album ‘White Creatures’, the band has toured numerous countries and shared the stage with musicians such as Ben Howard and Sophie Hunger. Orchestral, stormy and unpredictable – that’s probably the best way to describe this band. The collection was a massive work of art. Singer Janine Catherine has an amazing voice that gave me goosebumps. Her songs are about love, empathy and acceptance. The band plays with an intoxicating passion I’ve rarely seen. At the end of the set, all of the band’s merchandise was sold out for at least 5 minutes, including the current album’s “I Am My Mother.” It was a little weird, but also kind of endearing. They certainly made their way into the hearts of the audience that evening.

And last but not least, Ricas took the stage. Unfortunately, by this point many people had already left or were leaving during the concert. This was probably also due to the fact that the last bus from Posthof to the city left at this time, which many people probably boarded on this constantly rainy evening. In short, you can say: Recas makes you happy! They captivated the audience with their partly melancholy but also danceable indie pop. They mainly performed songs from their latest album “Goodbye Sunshine” and gave a great live show. They also said during the concert that they unfortunately had to postpone their scheduled tour until next year. For some reason it remained unclear. That’s why we were even happier that we were able to try it that evening.
