Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake: Once again rumors about a hiatus – no comment from the film makers

A few weeks ago there were rumors that the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic would be halted after Sony removed the originals from X and Twitter. Denials followed at the time, but the planned remake appears to have already died.

Fans of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic had their hearts sinking a few weeks ago after rumors began circulating that development had been halted. The background was Sony removing posts related to the game on social media. The company issued a denial shortly afterwards and confirmed that the move was for licensing reasons. However, the community’s sigh of relief seemed short-lived.

Now speculation about the title being retired is gaining momentum again – and the rights holders aren’t necessarily doing anything to take the wind out of the sails of that speculation. But one by one!

Well-informed and usually leaky Jeff Grubb made a very clear statement about the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic in a new edition of the Game Mess Mornings format: “There is currently no work being done on this game,” he said, “It has been completely shut down. This title is not being worked on in any way at any studio. “

A statement this clear does not bode well, because Grubb does not even leave any doubt about whether there is still any hope – and Grubb is one of the most reliable sources in the gaming sector when it comes to rumours.

There were already rumors last year that the remake had been delayed, at least indefinitely. At that time, the art director and design director were also fired. This year, a financial report indicated that work has not completely stopped yet – and now Embracer Group, which includes KotOR remake developer Aspyr, has made another financial offer. CEO Lars Wingfors was asked about the title and didn’t even try to refute the hiring rumors: “I understand that anything I say about this will become a headline, which is why this is my only comment.”

All of this certainly doesn’t build confidence that the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake will still happen – even if a very official setup is still up in the air.
