Slalom World Cup in USA: Tour with “extra” confidence

Led by slalom ace Lena Toure, the German Ski Women’s Alpine World Cup weekend took place in Killington. After last weekend’s canceled speed races, the U.S. has two technical races back: Saturday’s giant slalom and Sunday’s slalom (both 4 p.m.).

“Starting the season with two good results gives you a little bit more confidence,” said Durr, who finished second and third in an almost perfect start in Finland: “However, it starts all over again in Killington.” Durr also looks forward to Vermont’s atmosphere: “Killington is the place with the most spectators at our World Cup.”

National coach Andreas Bühlacher also believes that the 32-year-old will achieve a good result again: “With her two podium places in Levi, Lena Tour showed that she is in good shape and one of the best slalom skiers in the world.”

In addition to Tour and Emma Eicher, who finished 23rd at the start of the season, Andrea Filser, Jessica Hilsinger and Elena Lieb are also on the German team for the slalom. In Saturday’s giant slalom, only Eicher will start.

German freeskiers battle for World Cup points in slopestyle for the first time this season in Stupital on Saturday. Hopes of a podium finish lie primarily with junior world champion Muriel More. The finals will start at 10.30 am on Saturday.
