After days of searching, police in Houston, Texas, have found a missing tiger. “I think the public thought it would be easy to catch a tiger. But that never happened,” Detective Ron Burza said Saturday evening (local time) in Houston.
The search began when a police officer saw al-Nimr outside in his neighborhood last Sunday. According to the police, the 26-year-old owner took the animal and drove off. The owner was arrested shortly thereafter for other crimes. There was no trace of a nine-month-old, 80-kilogram tiger named India (India).
Borza said that the authorities received a notification from local residents on Saturday that the owner’s wife wanted to hand over the tiger. The police officer left it open exactly where the animal has been for the past few days. “Little tiger tiger” he said. The owner’s wife always knew his whereabouts.
Tiger is okay. He is now transported to a wildlife sanctuary on a farm in Texas, “where we hope he will spend the rest of his life in a very safe environment.” Borza said it was illegal to keep a tiger in Houston.
