Tyrol/Ischgl. On the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, around 40 meteorologists and weather presenters from more than 10 countries gathered in the snow-covered Piazza Silvretta to analyze current weather conditions while simultaneously sending stunning live images from Piazza Silvretta to all parts of Europe. .
The winter sports resort of Ischgl in Tyrol provided a picturesque winter backdrop for this year’s weather experts’ meeting, which featured a notable number of participants. A total of about 40 “weather frogs and fairies” from ten countries were represented. Germany again had the largest number of participants, while Denmark, the Czech Republic, Poland, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland were also well represented. Over two days, nearly 100 weather reports at the Silvretta Arena ski area and at the Silvretta Therme were produced with great artistic effort and reached an audience of millions.
More than 30 live broadcasts
The technical dimension of the weather summit was particularly evident in the live streams on Mount Idlib (2320m) and on Bardachegrat (2624m), where more than 30 live streams were made within two days.
Weather Summit Award Winners
The 15th edition of the International Weather Summit concluded with a gala event in Silvretta Therme, where the prestigious Weather Summit Award was presented. This went to Panos Giannopoulos (ERT Greece, Best Studio Weather), Laura Tobin (ITV UK, Best Outdoor Weather) and Marko Kashouba (WetterOnline, Best Report). Additional plans have also been announced: the 16th International Weather Summit will be held in 2024 in Stubai.
