After 24 years, the 63-year-old daughter of founders Ottavio and Rosita Missoni will take over as chairman.
Entrepreneur Angela Missoni will leave the position of Creative Director of the Lombard Fashion Group. Milan’s daily Corriere della Sera (Wednesday edition) reports that after 24 years, the 63-year-old daughter of the company’s founders, Ottavio and Rosita Missoni, will take over as chairman. Italian designer Alberto Caliri has been promoted to become the new creative director.
Since May 2020, the company has been headed by CEO Livio Broly, who was previously under contract with Armani. The majority of the company is owned by the Missoni family, who founded the group in Sumirago near Varese in Lombard in 1953. The 41.1 percent package is controlled by the Italian investment fund FSI. The family business is known for its creations woven in zigzag patterns in bold colors. Missoni is also located in a boutique in Vienna.
Missoni has been one of the most prominent names in the Italian fashion world for nearly 70 years. The company’s founder, Ottavio, passed away in May 2013 at the age of 92. In January 2013, the plane crashed with Ottavio’s eldest son Vittorio in Venezuela, and the body was recovered only ten months later.
