Special recognition – exhibitions of artist Poysdorf at the Venice Biennale

Gugging Gallery presented the works of Leopold Strobel to the public for the first time in 2016 as part of the “Locomotives Under a Green Sky” exhibition. At the time, no one could have imagined that within just a few years, Strobel would not only be purchased by New York's Museum of Modern Art for the collection, but would now also be a guest at the anniversary Biennale in Venice.

The importance of the invitation to Venice is demonstrated by the fact that only three names from Austria are included in the list of artists compiled by Biennale curator Adriano Pedrosa. They include the artist Greta Schodel, who was born in Hollabrunn in 1929 and lives in Bologna, Susanne Wenger from Graz, who died in Nigeria in 2009, and Leopold Strobel from Boesdorf.

Leopold Strobel has been an artist since his childhood and has been working at Gugging's studio since 2002, where his works have been created at his residence in Poysdorf and Kritzendorf since 2019. State Parliament Speaker Karl Wilfing, who was present at the opening of the exhibition at Gugging Gallery and knows the artist's work, is proud that Poysdorfer He and his colleague are internationally recognized as artists and the Biennale Arte is an additional recognition of his work.

Biennale Arte 2024 will take place from April 20 to November 24. “If you would like to see Leopold Strobel's works by then, you are welcome to do so at the Gugging Gallery, the Gugging Museum and in the online shop shop.galeriegugging.com “I do,” confirms gallery director Nina Kaczniig.
