Two individual competitions are scheduled on Saturday and Sunday, and on Saturday evening there will be a super team competition with two athletes per country and three evaluation rounds.

“Last year I had a good experience at Lake Placid: my first World Cup win after a very long break. It has a good backdrop and it's a very nice ski jump,” said Ruhboldinger, who already had a German home win in Willingen last Sunday. .

Apart from the 28-year-old, national coach Stefan Horngacher has named his entire senior squad for the trip to the US: Carl Geiger, Stefan Lahey, Pius Baske, Philippe Raimondt and Felix Hoffmann in Lake Placid.

“After Willingen, our athletes did some strength training at home. On Thursday we will travel to the USA with the same line-up as in Willingen,” Hornkacher explained before leaving for the USA: “After the win in Willingen, we are very motivated for two individual competitions and a super team.”

Slovenia's Lovro Koz won Friday's qualifying round with 126 meters and 5.1 points over Austrians Michael Haebach and Daniel Huber. Wellinger finished fifth as the best DSV ski jumper.
