According to a media report, thousands of Volkswagen Group cars are stuck in US ports. Porsche, Bentley and Audi vehicles were seized at the ports, the Financial Times (FT) reported on Wednesday. A Volkswagen supplier found a part in the cars that violated the law against forced labor.

According to reports, the German carmaker has postponed the delivery of the vehicles until the end of March to replace a critical electronic component that came from western China. Volkswagen did not know about the origin of the component until the supplier alerted the Germans to the problem. The part is purchased from an indirect supplier further down the supply chain.

According to the “FT”, VW immediately informed the US authorities when the origin of the part was discovered. The U.S. bans imports of goods made using forced labor in China's Xinjiang Uygur region and other parts of China. According to the report, VW did not want to comment on the matter.
