Brattle: “Everyone said they wanted to play”

After a winter break of almost three months, FC Flyeralarm Admira begins the second half of the season with a home match next Sunday (February 25, 10:30 am) against SV Red.

Before the spring season opener at Duttenball Arena, coach Thomas Brattle talked about the preparations:

Thomas, how did the preparations go?

The boys have worked really well and got the most out of the last few weeks. There was a high level of intensity and quality in training sessions and test matches. Everyone said they wanted to play and give everything for the club. These impressions leave me positive, although that only counts as of Sunday, our first tournament game of the spring. Last Friday we had a successful anti-nudity exercise. Not only were we able to win, but we also showed really good football at times. This is exactly how we want to start the tournament. We're glad it's finally starting again!

What has been particularly important in the past few weeks?

We have tried to improve things in all areas. The boys are in a really cool process. They have taken a few steps forward and are now much clearer in implementing our game idea. The last few matches have shown that our game is more flexible and tangible – in all phases, whether in own possession or in opposition possession, in transitional moments, or on set pieces. Our goal was to have the best possible feeling to start the tournament again. That was a success!

What do you hope for from the new players Mujanovic and Makhantir Wesiloz?

The team made it easy for the three to integrate. It was important for the boys to find good communication and coordination on the field. It works better with every training session, and with every match. It was important for Anwar to train with the team again, as he had to be without them for almost three months since his last appearance in Finland. Salko has already brought a lot of self-confidence since the first half of the season with Traiskirchen – that's how he presents himself. Emery also did well in preparation. All three can help us make our game more flexible. I hope they show what each individual can do and what sets them apart from each other. Coordination with other players works well. However, they also got the idea of ​​the game. They know what to do and can help the team.

What have you been able to take away from your role as head coach of the pros so far?

We have developed a really good dynamic within the staff and throughout the club. Everyone has a great responsibility in their area and performs their role with great passion. There is tremendous self-motivation. In our coaching team we have a great mix of young and experienced people. I really enjoy coming to Sudstadt every day. We are having a really good time here, along with the necessary seriousness and professionalism. I am very grateful for my work every day and I carry out my mission with courage and at the same time humility. It's great to work closely with people who are all moving in the same direction and want to develop the club further, the exchange between the president and the club management is optimal.
