Even without the ailing Reber, who took a break after an early World Cup win, the Norwegians took the win with Jens Loras Otebro and Jørgen Grabak, who entered the cross-country skiing course from seventh place, 37 seconds behind.

Austrians Johannes Lamberter and Stefan Rettinger came in second place after one jump and three rounds of 2.5 kilometers for each athlete (+7.1 seconds).

Olympic champion Geiger, who also claimed the last German win to date in the team race in Lahti with Schmid the previous season, was 39.6 seconds behind Weist.

“We can't be 100 percent satisfied with the race, but we can be happy with the jumping,” Faist said.

The jump lead was unusual for the German pair, as the combined DSV athletes have been much stronger in running this season than in hill running. But Schmid/Weber's 17-second lead eventually became 2:30.1 minutes behind.
