Vienna/Kremsmunster, 24 April 2024 – Harald Viel (53 years old) will take up the newly created position of Vice President IT of the Greiner Group on June 3. With this new position, the internationally active plastics and foam company in Kremsmunster wants to drive IT transformation at a group level even further. Feiel most recently served as Chief Digital Officer (CDO) at PORR AG. There he was responsible for the “enterprise digital strategy” and reported directly to the Board of Directors.

Greiner's future success depends largely on its strategic direction in the areas of information technology and digitalization. As Vice President of Group IT, Harald Wiel is responsible for the further development and implementation of the IT strategy, which aims to make a significant contribution to achieving the objectives within the Group's strategy. The focus of the new Group-IT organization is also to identify trends, risks and opportunities at an early stage, to leverage synergies and enable better IT career paths.

Harald Wiel studied applied computer science at the University of Salzburg and software engineering at Bowling Green State University in Ohio (USA). He began his career in 1994 as a research assistant in the United States of America. He then worked as a system administrator and later as chief information officer (CIO) in several global companies. From 2005 to 2019, he worked at VAMED Group, where he initially set up the IT infrastructure at Prince Court Medical Center in Kuala Lumpur and was subsequently responsible for the entire IT strategy for VAMED Group.

Harald Wiel is married with two children and lives with his family in Hinterbruhl (Lower Austria).
