Jurgen Klopp has created a social media profile for Liverpool FC fans. “Leaving this place is difficult, but I want to stay in touch with you. And even though I'm not the type to use social media: people,” the German team manager said in his first Instagram video the day before his farewell match. He told me this helps. That's why we're here.”

After just a few hours, Klopp has been followed by more than a million people on the platform, and more than 17 million have already watched his first video. Klopp, who has so far refrained from using social media, said: “Dear Liverpool residents, we are getting closer and closer to the end. I call it a love affair. From day one it has been a wonderful time.”

Klopp reported again on Saturday evening and his empty office could also be seen. Klopp said: “Last day in the office. Last training session over. It was strange, I would say. Some coaches get very emotional. Not me yet. I tell myself, there's another match tomorrow and then it's off.”

Sunday's match (5pm/Sky) against Wolverhampton Wanderers will be Klopp's final game as Reds coach. After nearly nine years on the Mersey, a successful era is coming to an end. From a sporting point of view, the match is not important. Klopp can no longer interfere in the championship race with Liverpool in third place. He remains to win the League Cup in his farewell season.

The 56-year-old, who won the Premier League and Champions League with Liverpool, is not expecting big emotions until Sunday. “Tomorrow I'll be exhausted. So I'm leaving this place now,” Klopp said, before turning the camera on and showing his empty office. “These are the boxes. Aye aye aye. See you tomorrow.”
