Active and world-famous fast food chain McDonald's will soon offer its services to guests in Sharding. OÖN reported this about two years ago. In September 2022, the company said it wanted to open a branch in Charding “in 2024 at the earliest.” The intended location for this is Linzer Straße, in the former building of the “Kubai” rubber factory.

However, at the moment, everything remains as is, and construction work on the McDonald's site has not yet begun. “Discussions are currently underway with third parties involved in the project. Therefore, construction has not yet begun,” McDonald's said in response to OÖN's request. A specific opening date cannot be predicted at this time. But what is clear is that people in the region's capital are already looking forward to the new gastronomic attraction. “We are looking forward to the start soon, and our young people in particular are waiting for it,” says Mayor Günter Streicher.
The third branch is in Innviertel
The branch in Schärding will be the third in Innviertel. There is still a McDonald's restaurant in the two other county capitals, Braunau and Reed. There are also locations of the fast food chain in neighboring Bavaria – in Böcking and Passau – near Scharding. According to McDonald's, geographical proximity is not crucial. “We carefully examine the selection of our locations, the number of guests must be correct and there must also be suitable transportation,” the company says.
