Peter Cornelius returns to the stage

Peter Cornelius returns to the stage

It is hits such as “Reif für die Insel” and “Du Attorney i kenn di” that make Peter Cornelius one of the most successful singer-songwriters in German-speaking countries. The artist, who lives in the St. Pölten area, knew early on that he wanted to be a musician. “It was clear to me when I was a kid, around 13 years old,” noe.ORF.at says.

He was influenced and inspired by bands such as the Rolling Stones, the Beatles and the Kings. Because their creativity and “genius” would have completely alienated him at that time. “The music that came from England struck me to the core. I couldn’t think of anything else,” recalls the authentic musician.

“Ready for the island” as a “state of life”

Our successes did not take long to arrive. One of his most famous songs is “Reif für die Insel”. “I'm sure this quote will outlive me,” the singer said. “That was the way my life was at that time.” Life will always give this sentence new significance, he says. However, he does not prefer the song to his other compositions.

Whether on the radio, in the recording studio or on stage: Peter Cornelius is still finding music and connecting with his fans

Even after five decades, the musician still enjoys being on stage in front of an audience. On June 19, he opened his next tour in Kirschlag in the Bakligen Felt district. The next day he will perform at Ybbs (Malak District). “It will be work and I hope it will be fun too,” the 73-year-old told noe.ORF.at.

Tour with greatest hits

Being on stage was the beginning of it all. “You have to imagine what it's like for me, at 73 years old, to be back on stage with my guitars,” says Peter Cornelius. After all, he started making music at the age of fifteen. Not with his own songs at the time, but “getting on stage, finally with a microphone in front of my nose and an electric guitar around my neck, that's the original.”

By the end of the year, he will be performing again on numerous stages throughout Austria as part of his tour. A concert at the VAZ in St. Pölten is on the program in November. Before that, he will perform on June 19 in the Kirchschlag in the Buckligen Welt (Wiener Neustadt region), the next day in Ybbs an der Donau (Melk region) or on August 7 in the Wolkenturm Grafenegg (Krems region). Audiences can look forward to his greatest hits, but also to lesser-known numbers.
