The 18th Children's Business Week – a holiday programme for children aged 8 to 15 – starts on July 22nd at the WKO campus in Währing. The entrepreneurs tell the young participants in an age-appropriate way how they create their products, the daily life in their companies and what the secret to their success is.

Companies from all sectors are taking part, e.g. B. Hotel Sacher, Café Landtmann, Wiener Stadtwerke, Billa, Neuroth, Vereinigte Bühnen Wien, but also a magician, a Japanese restaurant and a tea house. The programme includes a total of 60 lectures and idea workshops.

“Let's make the economy come alive”

The aim of the Children's Business Week is to arouse interest in economics and entrepreneurship among the younger generation, says Alexander Eppler, education officer at the Vienna Chamber of Commerce. “This week is a great opportunity for young people to experience first-hand how businesses work and what entrepreneurship means. It is also about finding inspiration for their career choices and discovering what suits their personal interests. This makes the often dry term “economics” tangible for children.

Opportunity to learn

During the Children's Business Week, entrepreneurs and employees report on their motivations for working on the success of the company or creating a special product. In the form of lectures or idea workshops, they tell their personal stories and thus bring children, as potential future entrepreneurs or creative employees, closer to what they have achieved. Children get to know entrepreneurial figures who had the courage to realize an idea and succeeded in it.
