German second league
Yannick Rochelt leaves SV Elversberg
Yannick Rochelt has been at SV Elversberg for two years. He played a key role last season in helping the team stay in the German second division. Now he moves to a league contender.
SV Elversberg have to let Jannik Rochelt go. The 25-year-old is moving from second division side Saarland to league rivals Hannover 96, both clubs have announced. The attacking midfielder will sign a contract with Hannover until June 30, 2027. The Lower Saxony club are said to have paid €1.5 million for the transfer fee, according to media reports. That would make him the most expensive Elversberger sale in the club’s history. Rochelt played for SV Elversberg for two years and was promoted to the 2. Bundesliga with the club in 2023. Last season, he helped Horst Steffen’s side maintain their confidence in the league. Rochelt was in the starting line-up 32 times and made 33 appearances in the 2. Bundesliga, scoring four goals and providing seven assists. Rochelt has already travelled to his new team’s training camp in Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer in Austria. He will make his debut for Hannover 96 in the friendly against Twente Enschede on Saturday (2pm).
