Muniz after throwing the parachute: “There is no turning back”

Last weekend there was a scandal in Switzerland: former Salzburg coach Ricardo Muniz, now coach at FC Zurich, was thrown from the stands – with an umbrella by the player's father (read here >>>).

Muniz first replaced 19-year-old Labinot Bajrami in the cup match against Zug (2-0) and then came off again after 20 minutes. The youngster's father was very angry about this and threw an umbrella in the direction of the coach who narrowly missed him.

“This has nothing to do with football anymore,” Muniz said. “I love this sport and I feel grateful every day that I can work in football. Such excesses are worrying. Unfortunately, things are going in the wrong direction.” Salzburg News.

Bajrami was substituted because he did not follow Muniz's instructions and made insulting comments – something the coach cannot tolerate. Muniz announced on SN: “I will go to the police and file a report. After this attack, I have no other choice.”

“You don't have the ambition”

Bajrami's quick substitutions are nothing new. Muniz has already taken a player on and off the pitch three times this season. The former Salzburg coach attributes it to a change in the attitude of talent: “They no longer have the ambition to reach the top. They want to achieve everything with 50 percent effort. But that's not possible.” In football you have to perform, you can't achieve anything by acting.

According to Muniz, he wants to continue as a coach at FC Zurich and he enjoys the work. On the other hand, Bajrami has no future at FCZ: “There is no way back for him. Labinot is a very talented player and unfortunately he is not well advised by those around him,” Muniz said.
