Austria U16s beat Germany after stunning comeback

Neo-U16 head coach Peter Schweda put his trust in goalkeeper Gabriel Limberger for the opening match. After two goals in less than two minutes from Tim Hartmann (9th) and Daniel Hilbert (11th), the Germans quickly took a 2-0 lead in the first third. Mark Samoilenko increased Germany's lead to 3-0 before the first siren.

A minute after the end of the first half, Maxim Dietz (31) scored the winning goal for the national coach Robin Beckers' team 4-0. Then the ÖEHV selection proved to be the most efficient. Josias Grossberger beat DEB goalkeeper Alrik Ehlers on the first power play opportunity and made the score 1:4 (37th place).

In the final section, Austria came back into the game and how: first Emil Wagner (47th) reduced the score to 2:4, and just nine seconds later Paul Sintschnig scored the next goal to make it 3:4 (47th). Suddenly the game was exciting again and Austria kept pressing. Samuel Jamming scored the famous equalizer to make it 4:4 (52nd), and the Austrians had already come back from 0:4 down.

After a brilliant comeback by the red-white-red, Germany were counted out, followed by ÖEHV who went ahead 5-4 thanks to Paul Sintschnig, who scored his second direct goal (56th). Paul Schuster scored the Austrians' sixth consecutive goal, and with 21 seconds left, he secured a thrilling 6-4 win for Austria after trailing 0-4 (60th).

Switzerland awaits on Friday from 7:30 p.m. The final match of the red-white-red will be against Slovakia on Saturday.
