Formula 1 Committee: No rookie race this year/Formula 1

The Formula 1 Commission held its fourth meeting of the year on Wednesday. The meeting was held at the Racing Bulls headquarters in Faenza under the leadership of FIA Formula One Racing Director Nicholas Tombazis and F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali.

One of the points discussed was the idea of ​​a junior race, which was supposed to be held as part of the post-season junior test day in Abu Dhabi. But implementation was postponed, although the idea was widely accepted among those responsible for the team.

This happened for temporal and organizational reasons, so the idea is not on the table. Instead, discussions will continue to develop a concept and potential plan for 2025.

In addition, following discussions by the recent Technical Advisory Committee on the 2026 Rules, some changes have been made to the Technical Regulations, which will apply from 2026. These relate to the areas of performance, aerodynamics and safety and include an increase in the aerodynamic performance expected for the next generation of vehicles. .

The 2026 sporting regulations have also been fundamentally changed and revised in order to simplify their structure. In addition, a testing plan for the 2026 pre-season has been initiated, which includes three three-day tests to take into account the challenges of new engine regulations.

The 2026 Financial Regulations will represent a further development of existing regulations. The goal is to create a competitive balance between sporting fairness and financial sustainability.

Updates to the 2026 guidelines will be presented at the next meeting of the FIA's World Motor Sports Council, scheduled for October 17.
