At the beginning of September, Sony officially presented the new PS5 Pro. The console had been an open secret in the previous months. And soon after there was a real surprise. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first Playstation, a special 30th anniversary design for the new console has been revealed. Not only does it look stylish, but it's also limited to just 12,300 copies worldwide. With such a small number of units, it can almost be assumed that when sales start, not only Playstation fans, but also all kinds of speculators, will try to pre-order the special design. And that's exactly what happened.

Even before the pre-order phase actually began, there were first offers online, and even when pre-orders ended, offers piled up at astronomical prices. The console is not yet available for pre-order in Japan. To avoid a similar situation to the rest of the world, Sony has come up with some smart measures. This would make the process fairer and reward more “true” fans with one of the coveted consoles.
Pre-orders only started in Japan on October 1st. However, only those with a Japanese Playstation Network account can participate. But that's not all: the account must also have been logged into a running PS4 or PS5 console for at least 30 hours between February 22, 2014 and September 30, 2024. This is to ensure that only Playstation users participate and that there are fewer multiple posts than before. Individuals. Unlike the rest of the world, it's not about speed. Users in Japan have until October 14 to register for a pre-order. If there are more requests than controllers – which is to be expected – a lottery will be used to determine who will eventually be made available.
