The millionth passenger took off from Trieste Airport this year

Already in the fall, the record set at Trieste Airport the previous year fell: on October 7, the threshold of one million passengers transported since the beginning of the year was crossed. Given the two-hour drive to Ronchi dei Legionari, a town outside the Friuli region's capital Venezia Giulia, Trieste Airport is also attractive to Carinthians.

But the millionth passenger was Italian: Susanna Siri was welcomed by airport management Antonio Marano and CEO Marco Consalvo. As a surprise, they gave her two plane tickets for the new flight from Trieste to Dubai with a stop in Rome, which will be available from November.

1.3 million passengers expected

Italian airline ITA Airways connects Trieste Airport to two hubs offering worldwide travel with four and two daily flights to Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate.

“We expect to end the year with a new record of 1.3 million passengers,” says General Manager Marco Consalvo. The goal for summer 2025 is to create additional new connections in order to better connect the airport. And not only that: €35 million will be invested in renovation and new infrastructure by 2027.
