In the 7th round of the Win2day ICE Hockey League, VSV beat Pioneers Vorarlberg 5:3 in a basement duel.
The Velatchers start the game better, but then the Pioneers catch up. The opening third thus develops into a balanced first section.
However, VSV took the lead from the 19th minute thanks to a Lindner goal that went just wide of the blue line. The same thing happens after the first break. The hosts are finding their way into the new third a little better again.
But then the guests strike. Ernie beats Lamoureux from close range (24th place). Although Villach received two penalty kicks after that, the score remained 1-1 in the second third.

The final third begins with a penalty kick for both teams. Lindner and Cooper have to come off the ice due to excessive roughness. In a four-on-four match, Maxa (44th) scored to make it 2-1 in favor of Carinthians.
Vorarlberg almost responded through Gilmour (45), but fell behind again three minutes later. Walenta made it 3-2 (48th) after Hughes' second assist.
Despite obtaining a double majority from the 50th minute to the 52nd minute of the match, the Pioneers were unable to equal the difference. Shortly after that, Cooper's shot (56) was successful in the right corner.
Shortly afterwards, McDougall conceded a two-minute penalty, which VSV could use. On the power play, Holloway went 4:3 (59th). After that, the Pioneers team went full offensive, moving without a goalkeeper and conceding the fifth goal by Maxa (60./EN).
Only in the last two minutes did VSV decide to play a balanced game and now maintain six points. Villach can deliver the Red Lantern to the Pioneers of Vorarlberg in a direct duel.
